High reps with small weight or big weight and low reps?
You have possibly heard that smaller weight and higher reps can tone your muscles. We want to make it clear that this is a myth. Muscles do not build different and react different with a lower weight compared to a larger one. They still break apart and rebuild. To tone muscle you need to cut the fat on top of them. This is a whole different topic besides what we are trying to clear up for many lifters out there. Most people are better with lifting heavy weights and balancing it with cutting the fat on top of their muscles. It is not incorrect to do high reps of small weight but it is faster to build muscles with heavy weight. Muscles breakdown and rebuild to be able to lift the weight you were doing before. Therefore it is shown that lifting a 30lb dumbbell-10x is better vs a 15lb-15x. Training for muscle endurance is completely different than trying to get cut with small weights and high reps. Let us know of other common weight lifting myths you may have heard of.
